The Government of India launched PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana to accelerate residential rooftop solar installations across India.
1. Who is Eligible?
Any residential electricity consumer with a dedicated meter connection and adequate shadow-free rooftop ownership can apply. The installation must use Indian-manufactured (DCR) solar cells and modules.
2. Application Steps
- Portal Registration: Register on the national portal (
pmsuryaghar.gov.in) using your mobile number, electricity bill Consumer ID (Bescom/Cesc), and discom division. - Technical Feasibility Approval: Your local electricity board reviews the sanctioned load and grants technical feasibility within 7-15 days.
- Installation by Authorized Vendor: Powerr Technologies installs MNRE-approved DCR monocrystalline panels and inverters with bidirectional net-metering wiring.
- Discom Inspection & Commissioning: Discom engineers inspect the setup, install the net meter, and issue the official commissioning certificate.
- Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT): Upload your bank details and cancelled cheque on the portal. The central subsidy is deposited directly into your account within 30 days.
